Hundreds of Orangutans to be Released

Borneo Orangutan Survival foundation has targeted to release 835 orangutans to Kalimantan forests by 2015.

“The release is part of the government’s program,” BOS spokeswoman Emilia Bassar said Wednesday in Balikpapan as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.

Emilia said that the foundation is rehabilitating 838 orangutans in Semboja, Kutai Kartanegara and in Nyaru Menteng, Palangkaraya of the Central Kalimantan.

“We are reintroducing wild life to those orangutans so they can survive when released to forests,” she added.
