The Seinäjoki Quartet Celebrates Hanoi

On the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi, the Seinäjoki Quartet from South Ostrobothnia Region, Finland performed in Hanoi.


The concerts were one of the activities co-organised by the Embassy of Finland, Hanoi, the South Ostrobothnia Region and the Hanoi People’s Committee to celebrate Thang Long 1000 years.  The concert programs performed during the Seinäjoki Quartet´s Vietnam tour included two string quartets by famous contemporary Finnish composers.

The high level guests at the Ambassador’s residence were treated with some food and drinks after the perfomance


 As the first of the 3 concerts in Hanoi, the string quartet perfomed to a small guest audience at the Finnish Ambassador’s residence and treated the high level guests with tradiotional- and not so traditional – Finnish music.


The other two performances were for a wider public, one at French cultural center L’Espace and one Hanoi Opera House. At the Opera House the Seinäjoki quartet pefomed with Vietnamese artists.

The Seinäjoki Quartet was formed in 1977 by the principal string players of the Seinäjoki City Orchestra. The repertoire of the Seinäjoki Quartet includes classics, such as Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven etc. as well as contemporary Finnish and international music. Every three years the Seinäjoki City Orchestra organises the “Chamber Music Seinäjoki” – international chamber music composition contest.
