Kristian Strand, Account Director with Nokia (Thailand) Ltd, is new member of the Board of Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce. Here he gives a presentation of himself.
What are the main products and services of your company?
“Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications. Nokia has become the leading supplier of mobile phones and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed broadband and IP networks. The company is broadly held, with listings on six major exchanges.”
“Nokia Networks is a market leader in cellular systems with cellular system deliveries to the main operators in Thailand. The branch office in Thailand was established in 1989, and in 1993 they established a Regional Customer Service Center, as well as a Regional Technology Center in 1994.”
Can you tell us something about the history / background of your company?
“Nokia’s presence in the region Asia Pacific dates back to the early 1980s and has since expanded considerably in all areas to support customer needs and the industry’s growth. Nokia Networks, formerly known as Nokia Telecommunications, first established a sales company in Singapore in 1993, with Nokia Mobile Phones beginning operations a year later. Nokia Ventures Organization, which explores new business areas, has also established itself in the region. Nokia Internet Communications, which commenced its regional operations in Singapore in 1999, now has offices in Australia, China, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan and South Korea. Besides that, Nokia Home Communications also has activities in Asia Pacific.”
“Nokia Mobile Phones operates 3 factories in the region, in Masan, Korea; Beijing and Dongguan in China; and has R&D centers and activities in Japan and China.”
What segments of the market is your company aiming at?
“Consumers and Corporate. Nokia is still growing in Thailand, and new innovative solutions are developed to meet many different segments and customer needs.”
What challenges do you see in Thailand?
“To keep up with the rapid growing, highly competitive and fast changing market of mobile communications in Thailand.”
