HCMC Celebrates Its 3-Millionth Tourists

Vietnam’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to participate in the MATKA tourism expo in Finland next year as part of 27 events planned for 2011.
This month, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism celebrates the expected arrival of the 3-millionth tourist to HCMC with a discount festival that promises a minimum of 5-10 percent discounts at amusement parks, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels, and travel agencies to all domestic and international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City between December 19 and Jan 9.
The number of visitors to HCMC last month topped 250,000, a 38 percent rise over the same period last year, taking this year’s 11-month figure to 2.85 million.
The target for HCMC is in 2011 to welcome 3.5 million visitors and rake in VND49 trillion (US$2.45 billion) in tourism revenues.
