Danish designer kitchen KVIK celebrated on Wednesday 16 February 2011 the official opening of the new showroom in Hua Hin with a party for friends and business relatives.
The owner of the franchise store Ole Frendesen welcomed all the guests on behalf of himself and his wife Majbritt. Later, Ole Frendesen and Carsten B Andersen, CEO of Kvik kitchens worldwide, performed the official opening. According to a Kvik tradition, this involves ringing of a big ship bell and a video link back to the head office in Denmark. Here the staff enthusiastically took part in the opening in Hua Hin, waving Thai and Danish flags and cheered in champagne – untill Carsten B Andersen jokingly remarked “..OK, that’s enough! Now, you can all get back to work!”
Some of the guests had come down from Bangkok to be part of the important moment but most guests were members of the local Hua Hin VIP circle.
“Oh yes! They are all here,” Chief Editor of Hua Hin Today, Gerard Mosselman, assured me when I asked if he saw all the “right people” among the almost one hundred guests that showed up.
Among the guests congratulating the owners of the new showroom were also Khun Chalermkiat ‘Lek’ and Khun Alisara ‘Peung’ Suwanprinya, Scandi Kitchens Co., Ltd. who only last month on 14 January opened their own Kvik showroom on Rama 9 in Bangkok. Another important guest was Flemming Bo Sorensen of Oriental Invest who has bought Kvik kitchens for all the houses in his latest real estate project with 72 units. Initially a co-investor in the Kvik showroom he had since decided to withdraw from the project.
“I am sure this will be a good business for Ole and Majbritt, but I would not have time enough to contribute anything so I decided my role should rather be as customer than as partner,” he said.
The new Kvik showroom has found a perfect location on a prime stretch of the main road leading into Hua Hin when coming from Cha-am, some 200 meters before the clock tower.
