Vietnam and Denmark Sign Research Agreement

Vietnam and Denmark have signed an agreement which will extend Danish support to a joint climate change research project through 2013.
Up to three projects will be selected for funding in 2011, with the project grants covering all costs involved.

The Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi announced that the new phase of the research collaboration will continue to focus on the theme of climate change.
“Vietnam is one of the countries believed to be most affected by climate change, which is very high on the Danish development agenda,” it said.

During the signing ceremony on Wednesday, Tran Viet Thanh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and John Nielsen, Ambassador of Denmark, said that the new phase of the program will provide more opportunities for researchers in both countries.

The Embassy of Denmark said that the budget for 2011 will be approximately US$2.7 million while the total funding for a three-year program is expected to reach roughly $8 million.
