The 7th Simply Scandinavian in Bangkok

The 7th Simply Scandinavian in Bangkok takes place on 13 – 22 May 2011 at Plaza Athenee Bangkok – A Royal Meridien Hotel – on Thannon Wittayu (Wireless Road), Bangkok.
On the musical side, this delightful week is usally an opportunity to enjoy some of the best Scandinavian jazz musicians live in Bangkok. This year, the programme features the Swedish actor and vocalist Annica Risberg and the Stockholm “City-Jazz” Quartet.
The Stockholm “City-Jazz” Quartet usually play as a septet, but during the Simply Scandinavian week in Bangkok band will be playing as a quartet. The band leader Goran Larsen is a virtuous of saxophones and clarinets. The other three musicians are Kjell Fernstrom on the piano, Pelle Karlsson on the double bass and Leif “Gus” Dahlberg on the drums.

On the food side, the Visiting Finnish chef Bjorn Ekstrand presents his signature dishes from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland – but don’t expect it to bee too traditional. Ekstrand usually works at Indigo Restaurant & Bar (http://www.indigo.ax/) in a rustic old stone house at Lilla Torget in central Mariehamn in Finland. But his food is rich in ispiratiion from around the world.

“The trend is that limitations are eliminated when it comes to food – nowadays you might as well go to New York and eat cured salmon,” he has once explained his non-traditional approach.

Swedish Ambassador to Thailand, HE Lennart Linner has booked the 13th of May 2011 for the inauguration of “Simply Scandinavian” at Plaza Athenee Bangkok – A Royal Meridien Hotel.
