Norwegian Peace Envoy Pays Courtesy Call to Malacañang Palace

The Norwegian Peace Facilitation Team recently met with President Benigno S. Aquino III. The Norwegian team was lead by Special Envoy for the Peace Process, Ambassador Ture Lundh and the Norwegian Ambassador to the Philippines, Knut Solem.


In attendance from the Government of the Philippines were: President Benigno S. Aquino III; National Defense Secretary Voltaire T. Gazmin; Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo; Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario; Presidential Advisor on the Peace Process Secretary Teresita Quintos-Deles; National Security Advisor Secretary Cesar Garcia; Armed Forces of the Philipppines Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr.; and Chairman of the Peace Panel of the Government of the Philippines Atty. Alexander Padilla;


The Norwegian Peace Facilitation team was composed of Special Envoy for the Peace Process, Ambassador Ture Lundh; Norwegian Ambassador to the Philippines, Knut Solem and Advisors Aina Holm and Ida Marstein.


Norway is the third-party facilitator of the ongoing peace negotiations between the Government of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP). The latest round of formal peace negotiations convened on 15 February 2011 in Oslo.
