1 Year Anniversary Celebrated in Jakarta

The climate and forest partnership between Norway and Indonesia celebrated its first anniversary on Thursday, 26th May. The President’s Climate Change envoy and former minister of Environment, Mr. Rachmat Witoelar cut the  anniversary cake together with Norway’s ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Eivind Homme, after the opening ceremony of the Education Expo at Jakarta Convention Center.


The Norwegian Embassy was invited to participate and we presented information about the climate and forest initiative, natural resources management projects and NORAD’s supported projects in Indonesia .

During the four days of the Expo, many  climate change experts, students, families and curious public visited the Norwegian stand. The Embassy had also invited four civil society partners of Norway to take part in the Expo. Kemitraan, AMAN, CER Indonesia and ICEL had the opportunity to showcase their programs as well.  In addition, Kemitraan conducted a well-attended public dialogue on the recently launched Presidential Instruction for two-year suspension of licenses in primary forest and peat.   


The Climate Change Education Expo was a joint effort by Ministry of Education and the National Council for Climate Change.
