Spies Biggest Travel Company in Denmark

Spies is Denmark’s biggest travel agency following the integration over the last couples of years of Ving, Tjæreborg, Skibby and MyTravel Tango into the Spies company. Spies is owned by Thomas Cook Northern Europe and so were all the smaller agencies, that are now integrated into Spies. The Thomas Cook Group name in Denmark is now Spies A /S, and all tour activities are gathered here.

Bjarne Hornbek, the CEO for Thomas Cook in Denmark will soon retire after 42 years in the travel business, and then the last step will be taken towards the integration between Thomas Cook and Spies. From 1. October Jan Vendelbo will be the CEO for the integrated group.

The group sells around. 1.5 million trips per year in the Nordic countries. In Sweden and Norway, Thomas Cook Northern Europe owns and operates Ving and in Finland, TCNE owns Tjäreborg. The group is listed on the London Stock Exchange and has annual about 22.1 million travelers,about 31,000 employees and a fleet of 93.

    Spies’ parent company, Thomas Cook Northern Europe, have own aircrafts in the subsiduary Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia headquartered in Denmark with own charter routes directly to Phuket from Copenhagen and Billund.
    Another subsidiary of Thomas Cook Northern Europe is called Resorts & Hotels and owns in Thailand two resorts, Sunwing Resort Kamala Beach, Phuket, with 300 rooms and Sunwing Resort & Spa Bangtao Beach, Phuket, with 220 rooms.
