The Norwegian embassy present at the IGEM 2011

The Royal Norwegian Embassy participated at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference (IGEM) held recently at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Together with two Norwegian companies, DNV and Eltek Valere, the Embassy provided visitors and delegates with information about Norwegian initiatives on renewable energy and green technology.

The IGEM conference is an annual conference, where suppliers and consumers of green technology and eco products can showcase their products and innovations. At the Norwegian booth, which had the catchy slogan “powered by nature”; visitors could learn more about Norwegian hydropower, as well as the power converters of Eltek Valere and DNV’s wind and solar power projects.

The conference is among the largest gatherings in South-East Asia on green technology and eco products and was visited by several prominent politicians, including Malaysian Prime Ninister Najib Abdulm Razak and Malaysian minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Peter Chin Fah Kui. In light of Malaysia’s pledge to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40% by 2020, the conference serves as an important arena for the Malaysian industry to develop green and sustainable ways of doing business.
