Tandberg prepares for bigger Asian market share

Norwegian video-conferencing vendor Tandberg is keen to reap the growing market in the Asia-Pacific, says its regional vice president Asmund Fodstad in an interview with Singaporean IT magazine Asia computer weekly, during the huge CommunicAsia trade show in Singapore recently.
With an Asian video conferencing systems market growth by 22 percent 2003, while worldwide growth is only 14 percent, Tandberg hopes to get a bigger slice of this market.
In February Tandberg launched a solution that works with Cisco’s IP telephony products. That together with new products later this year in industry specific sectors, especially within manufacturing where the Norwegians still have no offering, makes Tandberg better positioned to increase sales in the regional countries.
One of the latest contracts awarded to Tandberg is by the National University of Singapore which has chosen to implement the appliance-based Tandberg 6000 for its education program.
Tandberg’s Asean office is located in Singapore while the regional headquarter is in Hong Kong.
