Miss Denmark is half-Pinay

A 20 year old Filipina-Danish beauty will be representing Denmark in the Miss World pageant this November, tells the online media, abs-cbnnews.com.

Maya Celeste Padillo Olesen was born to a Danish father and Filpina mother in Bohol but her family moved to Denmark when she was only 3 years old.

Olesen made Filipinos and Danish proud when she was crowned as Miss Denmark last August.

“I’m very honored that I will be representing Denmark, and I think that it’s great that I’m half Danish, half Filipina because Denmark is also a country which is a mixture of ethnic Danish and immigrants so I believe I represent the best part of Denmark,” she said.

For the very first time, 4 beauties with Filipino ancestry will be competing against each other in the Miss World competition this year.

Aside from Olesen, Filipino-American Siera Robertson won the Miss World-Guam while Fil-Canadian Riza Santos is Canada’s bet to the Miss World and Gwendoline Ruais is the Philippines official candidate to the pageant. The Miss World pageant will be held in London on November 6.
