New name and rebranding of HSH to Virke

HSH, The Federation of Norwegian Commercial and Service Enterprises, changed its name September 28. It will now be called Virke, The Federation of Norwegian Enterprises. With over 15 000 member businesses, Norway’s fastest growing industry federation strives for business life that works. The name Virke, comes from the Norse word “virki”, spoken in Scandinavia in the past, especially by the Vikings, with meanings; 1: have effect on or function, influence, 2; occupation, work, business.
“We are changing our name because Norwegian working life itself is changing. There has been a shift in what companies expect in return for their membership fee and organisational affiliation; Norwegian employers require a federation that is adapted to today’s needs. It is a bold move to rename ourselves Virke, but we are ready to show our impact,” said Virke’s CEO, Vibeke Madsen.
