The Embassies of Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway together hosted the yearly celebration of Nordic Day in Myanmar on Friday, 15 February 2019.

This year, Nordic Day was more successful and bigger than ever before because there were more than 800 guests attending and 13 business companies together with 36 Non-Governmental Organizations presenting their works in the celebration.

Nordic Day is an annual celebration of the four Nordic Missions. Every year, it is celebrated with the theme that highlights Nordic culture and their mutual commitment for the future.

According to Royal Norwegian Embassy in Yangon, the theme of this year is an innovation that “highlights the interconnectedness between Nordic welfare states and innovativeness”.

The purpose of this celebration is to provide the four Nordic Embassies opportunities to share and promote values and culture of the Nordic nations and Nordic businesses in Myanmar.

Moreover, for the participants, the Nordic Day offers opportunities to learn about Nordic development cooperation and to form networks within members and partnerships in the Nordic diplomat society.

The sponsors of the event included Danish companies Carlsberg, Maersk as well as all partner organizations and companies who joined and contributed their funds and time for this event.

“We would like to thank everyone who made the event possible, everyone who presented their work and everyone who enjoyed the evening with us!” Norwegian Embassy wrote on Facebook.
