Police in Da Nang have uncovered a large operation producing and selling fake products branded as Jotun, a Norwegian paint manufacturer, according to Vietnam News.
According to local police, officers searched the offices and warehouses of Bao Ngoc Global Investment and Trading Co., Ltd. and seized more than five metric tons of paint and wall putty labelled as Jotun products. They also confiscated empty containers, labels and other packaging materials.
The company was not authorised to sell Jotun products. Investigators allege that paint was mixed with other products, poured into branded containers and sold as genuine Jotun goods, the police told Vietnam News.
Three suspects — Le Thai Binh, 42, Mai Thi Thanh Son, 42, and Le Thanh Nhan, 31 — have been charged. Binh has been placed in temporary detention, while the two others have been banned from leaving their residence as investigations continue as the investigation continues.
