The Danish company Mountain Top, which produces equipment for pickup trucks, is expanding into a new market in Thailand and has opened a factory in Chonburi Province, Thailand.

The family business was established more than 40 years ago and has always had its production in Denmark. But the company is now expanding with two new factories abroad, after landing contracts in Asia and North America that requires local production.

The new factory in Chonburi province will be operational from February 2020 and will initially employ a staff of approximately 50 people who will be working with the production of retractable tonneau covers and other accessories for pickup trucks. Mountain Top’s Alabama, USA factory will also open early this year.

Mountain Top has accelerated its development especially in recent years and was in 2017 acquired by Axcel, Danish private equity investment company.

The corona pandemic made the establishment of the factories in Thailand USA difficult due to travel restrictions but the company stuck to its new strategy because they saw the long-term growth opportunities in these important markets.

Pickup trucks are a vehicle less seen on the Danish highways but millions are found on the roads in Thailand and the USA.
