Vietnam has devoted a whole week to focus on energy. The annual Vietnam Renewable Week kick-started Tuesday 21 August with a 2-day workshop in Hanoi.

The event is organized by Vietnam Sustainable Energy Alliance with support from the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam. It brings together high-level decision makers, leading international and national experts as well as practitioners from different energy sectors.

The workshop was opened by Charge d’Affaires of the Danish Embassy, Louise Holmsgaard, who highlighted the significance of renewable energy for the future energy sector in her opening speak. She also addressed the need to develop renewable energy when it comes to meeting Vietnam’s rural-electrification targets and energy access.

The workshop is only one of many activities in Vietnam during the week. For example, a run for renewable energy is also part of the event’s public activities. The sport event is organized to raise awareness of the Vietnamese public of the benefits of renewable energy and to encourage Vietnamese citizens to be part of the transition.
