Danish fund gives grants to Myanmar businesses

The Responsible Business Fund has approved 185 grants to enterprises in Myanmar.

The Responsible Business Fund (RBF) Board, chaired by Danish Ambassador John Nielsen, has reviewed 202 Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) wishes for grants.

185 grants were approved covering a broad geographic range including projects in Chin State, Kayah State and Tanintharyi.

RBF is is a part of the Danish Development Assistance to Myanmar. The goal of the fund is to increase the competitiveness and responsible behavior of Myanmar enterprises by providing partial grants to SMEs for the implementation of innovative projects in the following seven eligible areas:
Energy efficiency, water use efficiency, waste treatment and recycling, occupational safety and health, food safety, managerial and supervisory skills, practical and technical skills.

With 185 new grants, the RBF has approved a total of 302 grants, bringing it that much closer to its goal of helping a near 500 local SMEs transform into socially or environmentally responsible businesses.
