A Swedish man suffered serious head injuries after allegedly being attacked with a knife by his Thai uncle-in-law in Sisaket province following a dispute over dead chicks.
The incident reportedly took place on 28 March at the Swedish man’s home in Khukhan district. According to the victim, 61-year-old Jimmy, he accidentally ran over three chicks belonging to his wife’s uncle while driving to a nearby plantation.
Jimmy said he apologised after learning what had happened, but the relative allegedly became angry and attacked him with a knife. The Swedish man suffered a fractured skull and received 30 stitches after being taken to hospital.
The victim told Thai media he remained hospitalised for one week and continues to suffer from numbness in his leg and memory problems. He also claimed the suspect has not yet been arrested despite a complaint being filed with Khukhan Police Station.
Thai non-profit organisation Saimai Survive said it would assist the Swedish man in coordinating with police to pursue legal action.
