Prior to the seminar Consul General Mr. Nicolai Prytz gave an introduction to the Viking culture and Danish maritime traditions: “I’m positive that this seminar will make us all much more knowledgeable on how the Vikings connected Scandinavia to the world,” said the Consul General and elaborated further on Denmark’s historical ties to the maritime field.

“One of the corporate areas where Denmark acts as an international leader is in the maritime field. This draws a direct historical link to the Viking culture of Denmark and Scandinavia.”

Morten Søvsø is Head of Archaeology at the South Western Museums of Denmark and has directed multiple excavations in the town of Ribe primarily focusing on the archaeology and history in Viking and Medieval times. The South Western Museums and the National Museum of Denmark is collaborating with Suzhou Museum in a great Viking exhibition “Dragons of the Northern Sea – Viking Age Denmark”, which opened on 27 March in Suzhou Museum. The exhibition is open to the public from March until 28 June.
