Denmark strengthens security efforts in Asia

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is enhancing its security presence in Asia with a new position as Regional Security Advisor, based at the Danish Embassy in Beijing. The role aims to address growing threats to Denmark and Danish interests across the region.

According to the Ministry, the advisor will play a key role in supporting the safety and security of Danish missions in China and surrounding countries. The scope of work includes threat analysis, crisis response, physical and information security, and the development of local emergency procedures.

Candidates are expected to have a strong background in civil or international security, preferably with experience from the police, military, private security sector, or international organisations. The position requires the ability to provide practical security advice across diverse and often challenging local contexts. The advisor must be prepared to travel more than 45 days per year.

The position is part of the Ministry’s global security team and will report to the Security and Property Department (SIKBYG). It is offered as a three-year posting with the possibility of extension. A valid Danish security clearance is required for employment.

The application deadline is Monday 14 April 2025. The successful candidate is expected to begin no later than 1 August 2025.
