“Digital transformation”, a major seminar by four Nordic countries in Vietnam

The Embassies of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland in Vietnam together with the National Ho Chi Minh Academy of Politics co-hosted a week-long seminar on “Continuity and Change in the Nordic Society Model – Adapting to a Digital Age” on Tuesday, 19 February 2019.

Held under the theme of “digital transformation”, the seminar this year was successful for bringing numerous experts and experienced representative from Nordic countries to share their knowledge in the field of digital transformation process with Vietnamese organizations.

The attendees from Nordic countries included four prominent Nordic experts and the four Nordic Ambassador to Vietnam who gave their keynote speeches in the opening ceremony.

According to H.E. Mr. Kari Kahiluoto, Ambassador of Finland, in his opening speech, he expressed the importance of digitalization and how the Nordic countries use the benefit of digitalization as a solution for national issues such as “aging of the population and the length of working career”.

While H.E. Ms. Grete Løchen, Norway’s Ambassador and H.E. Mr Kim Højlund Christensen, Denmark’s Ambassador highlighted the same issue that the digitalization not only brings the benefits but also the challenges and changes that Vietnam need to prepare for the better.

“Digitalization brings benefits but also implies challenges. Both public and private sector will experience significant changes… which requires increased efficiency, new thinking, new qualifications, new business models and new policies”. said H.E. Ms. Grete Løchen.

“As is the case with globalization, with digitization follows several dilemmas and challenges. But as the question is not whether the changes will happen, but how, as a society, we must be prepared to adapt and exploit the opportunities brought on by new technologies, using them to produce more prosperity and welfare for our citizens”. stated H.E. Mr. Kim Højlund Christensen.

In the closing remark, Ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Mr. Pereric Högberg revealed the pleasure and intention on the behalf of the four Nordic countries to continue support Vietnam to become advance in digital economy.

“We will continue to work closely with other countries including Vietnam to find smart solutions to address challenges and opportunities during our digital age”. H.E. Mr. Pereric Högberg said.
