On March 3, the three fellow Earth Hour Ambassadors, runner-up Miss Vietnam Thuy Van, singer Bao Tram, and Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen, came together to kick-off a series of actions in relation to Earth Hour 2014.

They encouraged the children at Trung Vuong Secondary School to join this year’s activities, make adjustments to their daily habits concerning energy use, and particularly also to celebrate the lights out event on Saturday March 29th. Afterwards, the children were active in the debate on how to reduce energy consumption. The event concluded with a bicycle ride around the adjacent Hoan Kiem Lake.

“The Earth Hour Campaign is important to Vietnam in order to raise awareness among the youth in Vietnam about the environment and climate change. I was happy to see so many students being active today. Denmark stands by Vietnam with our knowledge and technology to increase energy efficiency, improve waste management and mitigate the effects of climate change” said Danish Ambassador John Nielsen.
