The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement in progress

On September 20, the EU and Singapore released the text of comprehensive free trade agreement (EUSFTA). Singapore is the EU’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and EU Singapore’s second largest.

The EUSFTA is the first EU deal with a Southeast Asian economy and is seen to have the potential to open the door to Free Trade Agreements with other ASEAN-members as well. The draft agreement is currently being translated into all EU languages and will then be submitted to the European Commission.
