The 34th European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is currently underway in Singapore, running from 23 April to 24 May 2025. This year, the festival features entries from all five Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—highlighting the region’s cinematic contributions:(Nordisk Film & TV Fond)

  • Finland: Two films are presented. Butterflies (Perhoset), screening on 10 May, is a poignant drama about a father-daughter relationship set against the backdrop of the Seinäjoki Tango Festival. Tove, scheduled for 17 May, is a biographical film co-produced with Sweden, depicting the life of Moomins creator Tove Jansson.
  • Norway: Let the River Flow, screening on 11 May, is a historical drama inspired by true events, focusing on a young woman’s involvement in protests against a dam threatening Indigenous Sámi land in 1979. (Norgesportalen)
  • Sweden: The Swedish Torpedo, set to screen on 18 May, is a period drama about Sally Bauer, the first Scandinavian woman to swim the English Channel, portraying her determination and challenges. (European Film Festival)
  • Denmark: The Girl with the Needle, closing the festival on 24 May, is a gripping drama set in post-World War I Copenhagen, following a young factory worker’s encounter with a woman running a secret adoption agency. (European Film Festival)
  • Iceland: While Iceland does not have a standalone film at EUFF 2025, it is represented through the co-production of The Love That Remains, an upcoming family drama directed by Hlynur Pálmason, which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. (Wikipedia)

EUFF 2025 not only offers a platform for European films but also celebrates Singapore’s 60th year of independence with a special segment titled “Six at Sixty,” featuring short films by emerging local filmmakers. (European External Action Service)
