Finnair has announced the appointment of Pia Aaltonen-Forsell as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Executive Board. She will begin working with the company on 15 June 2025 and formally take over the role on 1 August 2025.
Aaltonen-Forsell will succeed Kristian Pullola, who has served as Finnair’s CFO since January 2022. Pullola is stepping down from his role later this summer.
Pia Aaltonen-Forsell brings a wealth of experience in financial leadership. She most recently served as CFO at Northvolt, and has previously held CFO roles at Outokumpu and Ahlström-Munksjö. She is also currently a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit Committee at UPM-Kymmene Corporation.
Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto welcomed the appointment, stating:
“Pia brings strong expertise in strategic financial management and international business. She has a proven track record of supporting business transformation and building financial success. Her experience will be valuable as we continue to strengthen our competitiveness and financial position in a dynamic operating environment,” Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto said.
Commenting on her new role, Aaltonen-Forsell said:
“Strong balance sheets and financial discipline have always been important to me—they’re the backbone of any successful business. But what truly drives performance is a united team with a shared goal. I’m excited to join Finnair and contribute to its continued success in this dynamic industry,” new Finnair CFO Alltonen-Forsell said.
The appointment comes as Finnair continues its strategic recovery and development following a challenging period in the aviation sector.
