Filipino rum debuts in Denmark

Tanduay has partnered with Denmark’s Bastard Spirits to distribute its rum in Denmark as part of its European expansion.

Philippine rum producer Tanduay has signed a distribution partnership with Denmark-based Bastard Spirits. The companies said the deal supports Tanduay’s push deeper into Europe.

Tanduay Brands International Inc. said Denmark is a key entry point for premium rum. Bastard Spirits said it will position Tanduay as a core rum brand in its portfolio.

Bastard Spirits is a boutique distributor founded in 2021 with a premium-focused spirits portfolio. The company says it specialises in the regulated Nordic alcohol market.

Bastard Spirits’ network includes specialty shops such as Vild med Vin, Private Selection and Rombo. It also supplies online retailers including Ginbutikken and Vault of Spirits.

The partners said they plan fairs and tastings to build the brand in Denmark. Tanduay’s range spans aged rum and overproof variants, including a 10-year-old and an overproof label.

Tanduay reported strong earnings growth in the first three quarters, reaching 40 million USD , up from 25 million USD. The Inquirer said higher prices offset lower sales volumes.
