Swedish design took centre stage in Singapore this week as IKEA unveiled a new collaboration with Stockholm-based designer Gustaf Westman. The launch, held at New Bahru, featured an exclusive media preview attended by Ambassador Anders Sjöberg and Mrs Sjöberg, alongside the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, Business Sweden and media partners.
Guests were welcomed to a panel discussion with Gustaf Westman and Elena Leonova of IKEA, focusing on Sweden’s tradition of democratic design—making high-quality, innovative design accessible to the many. The talk was followed by a showcase of the bold, colourful collection that blends playful creativity with Nordic heritage.
The 12-piece range forms part of IKEA’s upcoming VINTERFINT Christmas collection, bringing Westman’s signature rounded forms and pastel tones into the holiday season. The pop-up is Westman’s first collaboration with IKEA and marks a new way of presenting Swedish design to Singaporean audiences.
“The Embassy congratulates IKEA Singapore, Gustaf Westman, and partners on a successful launch, strengthening Sweden’s reputation as a hub for creativity and design innovation,” the Embassy of Sweden in Singapore said after the event.
