Indonesian-Sweden Dialogue on Urban Transport to be held in Jakarta

The Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Trade Council in Jakarta are organizing an Indonesia-Sweden Dialogue on “SymbioCity – A Holistic and Integrated Approach on Urban Transport Solutions,” on 4 December 2012.

The talk aims to present Pioneering Ideas, Technology and Visions for Sustainable Urban Transport and includes a keynote speech by the Swedish Government’s High Representative for International Environmental Technology Cooperation Mr Mats Denninger.

There will be presentations on the following topics:
SymbioCity: The Sustainable Urban Transport Concept by Sweden
Sustainable Urban Land Use and Transport – International research and Swedish experience

SymbioCity
SymbioCity is a Swedish concept that takes a holistic approach on sustainable urban development. It identifies synergies in urban functions and unlocks their efficiency and profitability. Cities are facing higher expectations on mobility and exchange of goods. Efficient and reliable transportation networks function as a catalysts for development and stimulate economic growth.

The visiting delegation
The visiting Swedish experts and companies will be very happy to share their experiences and also to learn from Indonesia through this Dialogue and knowledge exchange. The delegation includes companies and investment partners, representing some of the best Swedish companies in terms of urban transport products and solutions.

Companies participating are: Scania, TD Rail & Industry, Bombardier, Kapsch and Volvo. In addition, Mr Daniel Jonsson, PhD, from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, will hold a presentation on the theme: “Transport Economics, how to use Large-Scale Transport and Land-Use Models with Sustainability and with a Desirable combination of Policy Instruments.”
