Singapore’s Seatrium has confirmed it received a notice of arbitration from Denmark’s Maersk Offshore Wind following a disagreement over a $475 million contract for a nearly completed wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV).
The vessel, reportedly 98.9 percent finished, was originally contracted in March 2022 by Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters—now Seatrium Energy International—and was expected to serve Equinor’s Empire Wind project in the United States.
Maersk Offshore Wind issued a termination notice on October 9, which Seatrium rejected three days later, claiming the Danish company was in “repudiatory breach of the contract” and reserving its right to seek damages for wrongful termination.
Despite the dispute, Seatrium stated on October 20 that it still intended to deliver the vessel by January 30, 2026, in accordance with the contract terms. The following day, Maersk Offshore Wind filed for arbitration in London under the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) rules.
Seatrium said the arbitration notice did not specify details of the alleged disputes or claims but added that it would “vigorously prosecute its position and defend any claims” brought by Maersk Offshore Wind.
