On 5 November 2016, the first Thai street kitchen opened up in Melhus, Norway, called Thai Familie Mat.

Inside the food truck are Rinlaphat Pedersen and Ancharee Taowanri, both of whom live in or around Melhus and have experience from operating a restaurant in Thailand.

The street kitchen will be open every day except Tuesdays, and the couple behind it, Norwegian Geir Pedersen and Thai Rinlaphat Pedersen, explain that only freshly made food will be served from the truck.

Geir Pedersen explains that Thai food is a lot more than just chicken dishes; “You can get the dishes mildly or highly spiced. Thai food is healthy and good food, and the street kitchen will be serving fresh food every day. We will also do catering,” Geir Pedersen says.
