Citizens of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland can now enter6 China without a visa for short stays, Travel and Tour World reports.
The new policy took effect during the 2026 Spring Festival in mid-February. In total, 50 countries are covered by the scheme, which allows eligible travellers to visit China without applying for a visa in advance for shorter trips.
The measure is part of China’s efforts to strengthen inbound tourism and make international travel easier after several years of strict border controls. European countries make up a large share of the newly eligible nations, alongside selected countries in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
For the Nordic region, the change removes a practical barrier for business travellers, tourists, students and families with connections to China.
Citizens from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland who enter China under the new visa-free scheme can stay up to 30 days per visit without needing a visa.
The visa-free policy is currently set to remain in place through the end of 2026 for most countries on the list.
