The ’Nordic Day 2018’ was held at the Nordic House in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). Naw Susana Hla Hla Soe was guest of honour, holding a speech about gender equality.
The Embassy of Sweden Section office in Yangon expressed gratitude towards their sponsors, partners and guests, making this Nordic Day the “best so far”.
“We are also happy about the great collaboration between the Diplomatic Missions of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden that all together realized Nordic Day.”
Gender Equality was the theme this year: Female leadership and Men’s Contribution.
Singer Youn Ni Ko and DJ Yu KT were the entertainers. The Swedish Dads exhibition was also on display.
A round table discussion on gender equality was also conducted, with H.E. Mr. Staffan Herrström as moderator. Panellists were: (1) Susanna Hla Hla Soe, our Guest of Honor for 2018 Nordic Day. Susana is a Member of Parliament at the Upper House, Amyotha Hluttaw and member of Parliamentary Committee on Women’s and Child’s Rights; (2) Dr. Thet Thet Khine, Member of Parliament at the Lower House, Pyithu Hluttaw; (3) Ms. Flora Pintusoontorn, Country Manager of Maersk Line Myanmar Ltd.; (4) Daw Pansy Tun Thein, Senior Adviser at Gender Equality Network.
