Norway is planning a major marketing push to win back Norwegian salmon producers’ place in China’s fresh salmon market, which has been partially shut off to them since a diplomatic clash in 2010.
The marketing body Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) is set to launch a large-scale advertising campaign in mid-July targeting some of the most populated cities in China.
Norway’s direct fresh salmon sales to China have dropped by 70% over the past four years, since the Nobel peace prize was awarded to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo in 2010.
