Norway’s Haaland becomes face of Chinese herbal drink brand ahead of World Cup

Norwegian football star Erling Haaland has become the global ambassador for Chinese herbal drink brand WALOVI ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Norwegian football star Erling Haaland has been named global brand ambassador for WALOVI, the international version of the Chinese herbal tea drink Wang Lao Ji, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old striker, who plays for Manchester City, features in a new global advertising campaign built around the slogan “WALOVI, WE LOVE IT!”.

The campaign promotes WALOVI as a caffeine-free herbal drink and includes a series of humorous advertisements featuring Haaland. In one of the videos, the Norwegian forward appears to breathe fire, while a specially created theme song accompanies the campaign.

WALOVI is based on Wang Lao Ji, a herbal tea brand whose recipe dates back to 1828. The drink is marketed internationally as a beverage made from natural ingredients.

The partnership adds another major endorsement deal to Haaland’s growing commercial portfolio as one of football’s most recognisable athletes. He is expected to lead Norway into the 2026 FIFA World Cup following another strong season at club level.
