Danish community in Hong Kong invited on annual Sankt Hans Junk Trip

The Danish community in Hong Kong will once again celebrate Sankt Hans at sea. The Danish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the Danish Seamen’s Church are preparing for their annual Sankt Hans Junk Trip on June 20.

The event invites chamber members, friends of Denmark and the wider Danish community to spend a day aboard a traditional Hong Kong junk boat, combining the Danish midsummer tradition with a day of sailing and social activities.

Participants will gather at Central Pier 9 or 10 in Hong Kong, with registration opening at 9:30am before departure at 10:00am. During the trip, the boat will sail to a nearby bay where guests can swim and take part in water activities before returning to the city at 6:00pm.

Lunch, cake, snacks, drinks and water will be served throughout the day.

Tickets cost HKD 550 for adults aged 12 and above and HKD 150 for children aged four to 11. Children under three can join free of charge.

The annual junk trip has become a longstanding tradition among Hong Kong’s Danish community, offering an opportunity to celebrate Sankt Hans, one of Denmark’s most cherished summer traditions, while enjoying the waters around the city.

This year’s event is supported by sponsors Castello del Vino, Jebsen and Modern Terminals.
