The Painting With Light film festival, hosted by the National Gallery Singapore, will return from 4 to 14 September. This year’s programme features a special Norwegian contribution, The Long Road to the Director’s Chair, directed by Vibeke Løkkeberg.

The documentary captures the first International Women’s Film Seminar, held in 1973, and pays tribute to pioneering women who challenged gender inequality in the film industry.

Originally rejected by state broadcasters in the 1970s and thought lost for 50 years, the film was rediscovered in the archives of the Norwegian National Library. It has since been restored and will now receive its Singapore premiere.

The screening will take place on Tuesday 9 September at 8 PM at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium, City Hall Wing, National Gallery Singapore. Tickets available here.
