Norwegian maritime tech company Shipnet has announced the launch of Helix AI, the latest enhancement to its Helix platform, just ahead of the 10th Sea Asia conference in Singapore taking place from 25–27 March 2025 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The upgrade introduces real-time AI-driven insights aimed at helping shipping companies streamline operations and make faster, data-backed decisions.
Shipnet’s Helix AI offers a digital twin of a shipping business by integrating data from safety, pricing, procurement, and more. The new AI functionality builds on this by analyzing historical data to provide real-time recommendations, validations, and optimizations—automating tasks like order creation and document population without human input.
“Helix is essentially a data warehouse,” said Niall Jack, Shipnet’s Director of Product Management.
“With AI, we can now deliver smarter insights that reduce workloads and improve decision-making without customers needing to set up complex rules or algorithms.”
Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Oslo, Shipnet’s software is used by over 150 companies in 31 countries. The company sees Helix AI as a solution for an industry under pressure to do more with fewer resources, especially among shore teams facing reduced manpower.
Looking ahead, Shipnet aims to expand Helix AI’s capabilities to include natural language queries and automated reporting, making it easier for users to access complex data.
“Our mission is to simplify and unify business areas across the shipping industry,” said John Wills, Head of Customer Experience.
“With Helix AI, companies can finally harness their data to truly understand and improve performance.”
