Okada Manila is taking a significant step towards sustainability by eliminating single-use plastic bottles from its operations. The five-star integrated resort in Parañaque, Philippines, has announced a partnership with the Swedish firm Nordaq to replace traditional plastic bottles with filtered water bottled on-site.

This initiative comes as part of Okada Manila’s strong commitment to environmental responsibility, aiming to provide guests with sustainable, high-quality water. Through this collaboration with Nordaq, renowned for its advanced water filtration technology, the resort will offer a premium alternative to single-use plastics.

Byron Yip, President and Chief Operating Officer of Okada Manila, stated, “The elimination of single-use plastics is a critical part of our plan to build a better, greener tomorrow. By implementing our own water filtration and bottling system, we significantly reduce the demand for single-use plastics.”

Moreover, the new water bottling system will allow Okada Manila to produce up to 1,000 bottles of water per hour, all packaged in reusable glass bottles. This innovative approach not only enhances the quality of water provided to guests but also aims to eliminate approximately two million single-use plastic bottles annually.

Additionally, Rob Scott, Vice President of Hotel Operations, emphasized the broader impact of Okada’s decision. “By embracing this change, we’re not just reducing waste—we’re setting a new standard for responsible hospitality. It’s a win for our guests and a win for the planet,” he remarked.

Furthermore, Okada Manila plans to expand the use of Nordaq water across its various operations, fully integrating this environmentally friendly initiative into all guest experiences. This move aligns with a growing trend in the hospitality industry to prioritize sustainability while maintaining high service standards.
