Philippine immigration officials said they denied entry to two foreign nationals flagged as sex offenders. The cases were linked to the Bureau of Immigration’s #ShieldKids campaign.

The Bureau of Immigration said a 63-year-old Swedish national, Borje Millert Hultberg, was stopped on 6 January at Mactan-Cebu International Airport. It said the action followed information shared by Nordic law enforcement.

Officials said Hultberg had been convicted in Sweden for possession of child pornography. Two separate reports gave different conviction years, citing 2023 and 2003.

The Bureau of Immigration also said it barred a 52-year-old US national, Rene Reyna, on 6 January at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It said he was convicted in Texas in 2013 for indecency with a child.

Immigration officials said both men were refused entry and added to the bureau’s blacklist. The bureau said #ShieldKids relies on intelligence sharing and inter-agency coordination to prevent child exploitation.
