The national table tennis teams of Denmark and China met in Copenhagen on 25 August for a Friendship Cup celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The event was organised with support from the Danish Table Tennis Association, the Chinese Embassy in Denmark, and the Denmark–China Friendship Association.

The match brought together sporting and diplomatic leaders, including Hans Natorp, President of the Danish Sport Association; Chinese Ambassador Wang Xuefeng; He Xiao, Secretary-General of the Chinese Table Tennis Association; Henrik Vendelbo, President of the Danish Table Tennis Association; and Petra Sörling, President of the International Table Tennis Federation.

Star players such as China’s Sun Yingsha and Lin Shidong, Denmark’s Jonathan Groth and Anders Lind, and Paralympic champion Peter Rosenmeier joined the line-up. The event also featured players with Parkinson’s using table tennis as a tool for health, underlining the sport’s inclusivity.

Organisers described the Friendship Cup as a reminder of table tennis’ role in fostering understanding between nations.
