Scandic Food to focus on jam export to China

Danish biscuits have long been popular among the Chinese. Now it seems the Danish jam is also experiencing a higher demand in China.

Scandic Food, a food producing company based in Denmark who exports their product to 75 countries across the world, is now hoping to increase the export of jam to China. In November 2016 they attended a food fair in Shanghai to introduce the Chinese market to the different jams produced by the company.

“We are of course working towards increasing our export even more, China with its big population and the rest of the east is interesting to us,” said Torben Christensen, Administrative Director of Scandic Food A/S, to Danish newspaper Fyens Stiftstidende.

So far the company will be focusing on the southern parts of China, as many in the northern part does not know of jam, which would then need a completely different amount of time and investment to break though to.

“We were lucky when entering the eastern market. Because we had already had success in selling biscuits, we knew some importers who could also take in the jam.”
