The Singapore-Norway Maritime Business Forum took place on March 24, 2025, at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre as part of the Singapore Maritime Week. Organized by Team Norway, the forum served as a platform to explore pioneering technologies driving the transition towards a more sustainable and future-proof maritime industry.
Mr Even Tronstad Sagebakken, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Trade Industry and Fisheries, Norway, took part in the forum.
Senior Minister of State for Transport, Dr. Amy Khor, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the strong maritime partnership between Singapore and Norway. She highlighted collaborative efforts in decarbonizing the maritime industry, including the world’s first dual-use of ammonia and diesel as marine fuel on the Singapore-flagged vessel, Fortescue Green Pioneer, supported by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and classification society DNV.
The forum also featured discussions on future-proofing the maritime industry through bold experimentation, industry collaboration, and workforce upskilling. Dr. Khor encouraged both countries to continue innovating and working together to ensure the maritime sector’s resilience and sustainability.
In addition to the forum, Team Norway hosted several events during Singapore Maritime Week, including the Norway Pavilion showcase and the “Future Proofing the Maritime Industry through Next-Generation Solutions” session. These events provided opportunities to explore Norwegian maritime technologies and discuss collaborative solutions for the industry’s challenges.
