Singapore has been named the most peaceful country in Asia in the newly released Global Peace Index 2025. The city-state placed sixth worldwide, highlighting its strong performance in safety, security, and low levels of conflict.
The Global Peace Index, compiled by the Institute for Economics and Peace, ranks 163 countries based on factors such as crime rates, political stability, militarisation, and ongoing domestic or international conflicts.
Globally, Iceland once again took the top spot. Finland and Denmark also ranked among the world’s ten most peaceful countries, while Norway and Sweden remained highly placed further down the index.
The report emphasises that Singapore stands out in Asia for its consistently low crime rate and strong governance, while the Nordic countries continue to score strongly thanks to robust institutions and social trust.
