Solar panels to Myanmar company financed by Denmark-Myanmar programme

A Myanmar wood-processing firm is the first company to get solar system financed by the Denmark-Myanmar Country Programme.

The Myanmar wood-processing firm Diamond Mercury Wood Products Ltd. could on 11 September inaugurate a rooftop solar photovoltaic system with attendance of Danish Ambassador John Nielsen.

The installation of the solar panels is made possible through co-financing from the Responsible Business Fund (RBF), which was made available through the Denmark-Myanmar Country Programme. The programme aims to increase the competitiveness and responsible behaviour of Myanmar enterprises.

Diamond Mercury Wood Products Ltd. is the first wood processing small enterprise in Myanmar using solar PV systems to operate heavy-duty machinery.

RBF is a part of the Danish development assistance to Myanmar. RBF is a fund, that provides partial grants to small and medium-sized enterprises for the implementation of innovative projects in the following seven eligible Areas: Energy Efficiency, Water use Efficiency, Waste treatment and Recycling, Occupational Safety & Health, Food Safety, Managerial, Skills and Practical & Technical Skills.
