Sweden’s SIBS to build 50 small homes for Australia in Penang, Malaysia

Sweden’s SIBS will build 50 factory-made small homes in Penang, Malaysia, for Australia, with installations starting early 2026.

Swedish modular builder SIBS (Scandinavian Industrialized Building Systems) has won its first order in Australia: 50 small secondary homes, known as ADUs. The units will be produced in SIBS’ factories in Penang, Malaysia, and shipped for installation in early 2026.

ADUs are compact homes that can be placed next to an existing house. SIBS will build each unit fully inside the factory, so they arrive ready to install. This reduces on-site work and shortens the time from delivery to move-in.

The project is arranged with a local partner in Australia and is designed to make ordering and delivery simple for homeowners and housing providers.

Founded in Sweden in 2016, SIBS controls the full process from design to assembly. Its two Penang factories supply modular homes to several export markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
