On 3 October the Embassy celebrated the opening of the new Consulate of Sweden in Pattaya. The opening ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Dusit Thani Hotel where the consulate is located.

During the evening, the departing Consul Dr. Sunya Viravaidya was thanked for his efforts and Mr. Chatchawal Supachayanont was welcomed as the new Consul. Among the guests were representatives from hospitals, courts, and police in the area as well as friends and family of the consuls.
They were treated to classic Swedish food as well as traditional Thai dances; a cultural blend that reflects the Consulate’s future responsibilities.
