After visiting Tacloban City in Leyte, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on 26 January 2014 pledged to donate US$100,000 (4 million peso) to the Typhoon Yolanda relief effort.
The amount would come from the World Scout Foundation, of which the king is the honorary chairman, and will be used for disaster-preparedness training. The king also appealed for more cooperation and aid for Yolanda relief, state-run Philippines News Agency reported.
