A 46-year-old Swedish tourist was found deceased in his room at Mr. Chan Guesthouse in Pai, Mae Hong Son province, on March 7, 2025. The individual was on a 60-day tourist visa.
Initial investigations by Pai police revealed no signs of physical trauma or struggle. However, needle marks were observed in the crease of his right arm, and a syringe along with cigarette butts were found nearby.
There were no indications of theft, and the man’s belongings appeared undisturbed.
The cause of death has yet to be determined; the body has been sent to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Local authorities and the Tourist Assistance Center are continuing their investigation.
